Toronto Maple Leafs x Too Black Guys - No Apologies: Threads of Influence

Updated: Apr 4

Professional black hockey players sit down and reflect on their experiences in the NHL.

In Episode 1 of No Apologies: Threads of Influence, a year after first coming together through the transformative No Apologies retail collaboration, Wayne Simmonds, Val James, Mark Fraser, Jamal Mayers, John Craighead, André Deveaux, Robbie Earl, Ryan Reaves, and Too Black Guys founder Adrian Aitcheson reunite to reflect on brotherhood and mentorship—what it meant to build this bond, the legends who inspired them, and how they’re paving the way for the next generation.

In Episode 2 of No Apologies: Threads of Influence, the group explores how Black culture and hip-hop—through music, fashion, and swagger—have left a lasting mark on the game in ways that feel fresh, authentic, and long overdue. From the locker room to the streets, they share how this evolution isn’t just helping grow the sport, but also making hockey feel more exciting, dynamic, and empowering for those who’ve always brought their style to it. The game is changing—and it’s never looked better.
